About Corey

I've spent 20 years coaching people through the two things most programs get wrong: changing how your body is actually composed, and building performance you can use outside the gym. I'm NASM and CSCS certified, and I train out of OAK Fitness in Houston. I'm also a firefighter — a job where being strong, conditioned, and durable isn't a hobby. It's the difference between handling a call and getting hurt on one. That shapes how I coach. I build people who can do hard things repeatedly and recover well enough to do them again. Most of my clients come to me for one of three reasons. They want to drop body fat and build muscle at the same time. They want to get stronger, faster, and more powerful for their sport, their job, or their life. Or they're working around an injury and need a coach who will train them intelligently instead of telling them to rest and hope. Alongside barbell and dumbbell work, I coach kettlebell and clubbell training. Both build strength through positions and ranges a machine never touches — rotation, grip, shoulder integrity, and control at the end range of a movement. That's where a lot of real-world durability comes from, and it's a big reason my clients keep progressing instead of breaking down. One of my clients lost 200 pounds over 18 months. That didn't come from a magic program. It came from smart decisions, a strategy we stuck to when it got hard, and showing up consistently for a year and a half.

Coaching philosophy

Smart, strategic, consistent hard work. That's the whole thing. Smart means the program fits the person in front of me — your training history, your injury history, your schedule, and what your body can actually recover from right now. A great program you can't recover from is a bad program. Strategic means we know what we're building and in what order. Movement quality before load. Strength before intensity. Body recomposition done in a way that takes fat off without giving away the muscle you worked for. Consistent hard work is the part nobody can do for you, and it's the part that decides the outcome. My job is to make sure the work you put in actually goes somewhere — that every session has a reason, every training block builds on the last one, and you're not paying for your progress with your joints. If you're coming back from an injury, we train around it and through it, not away from it. If you're chasing performance, we build the base first. And if you want to change how you look, we do it in a way that leaves you stronger than I found you.
